Jessica Baggott in utero

Updates

hiccups and movement

2-6-01: Amy cries when she is going to sleep because the room isn't "ready"  George assures her it is fine for the new baby and all the small tasks can be taken care of after the baby arrives.  Amy has a strong contraction that wakes her up at 3:00 am and then the contractions come every 7 minutes.  Not much more sleep is had for the rest of the night.  Amy and George head to Dr. Hamilton's office at 2:00 pm.

2-5-01: Amy has lunch at Houston's and then goes shopping with Ed de Maar.  While in the Discovery Store, someone tries to shoplift and a loud buzzer goes off in the store and I have a very strong contraction.  The contractions continue for the remainder of the afternoon and into the evening.  I receive a call from Lisa Sullivan who I tell about these minor contractions and she asks if I have been timing them.  I hadn't been, but once I do keep track I realize that they are fairly regular and I think I am in early labor.  I call Dr. Hamilton about 10:00 pm and reach his service.  The service patches me directly through to him and he tells me to have half a glass of wine and two glasses of water and sleep through the night.  I call Mom and Dad Monoson in LR to tell them to get to SF the next morning (they were planning on flying out on Wednesday, 2-7-01 tthe due date) and calls Mom Baggott at Kate's to tell her the news.  Judd and Tracy are also alerted.

2-4-01: Birthday party for Nick Baggott and Lucy Albright at Golden Gate Park.  Amy is very tired and sits on a blanket for most of the day.  She gets up to get food and to play frisbee with Nick once.

2-2-01: AFI and NST test at Mills-Peninsula Hospital

1-31-01: Dr. Hamilton visit

1-16-01: Dr. Hamilton visit

1-10-01: Dr. Hamilton visit

1-3-01: We have a midwife come to the house to provide us with birthing class information.  Mom Baggott sits in on the class and Amy is very ill with a cold.  George and Mom end up going to Amy and George's anniversary dinner at Chez Panis that night due to the fact that Amy is too sick.  Amy also takes antibiotics prescribed by Dr. Hamilton for the cold and finds some relief immediately.

12-31-00: Amy and George attend a concert in Oakland for New Year's Eve.  Amy leaves shortly after midnight due to the smoke and heat in the concert hall...George stays behind to rock out.

12-20-00: Dr. Hamilton visit

12-11-00: Dr. McCallum does one more series of ultrasound because there is a concern about my AFI (amnionic fluid index)  You can see her face in the sideways series and her hand  under her chin pretty clearly in the last vertical shot - very cool! She looks very snuggly.

12-3-00: Baby Shower hosted by Tracy Desmond at Lovejoy's Tea House

11-17  thru 25-00: Amy travels to Little Rock for Thanksgiving and George joins from Wednesday to Saturday.

11-14-00: Top of her head ultrasound from Dr. Schneider

11-12-00: Baby Shower at Sue and Mike Marston's house, hosted by the Marstons and Chuck Gutro

10-12 through 19-00: Amy travels to Chicago to visit relatives before she can't travel pregnant any longer.

10-3-00: George and Amy take a tour of the birthing facility.  It is run by a very old woman who is so slow at explaining things, we duck out early!

9-29-00: We have our 20 week check up with Dr. McCallum and find out we are having a girl.  George looks pale and when Amy asks him what is wrong (he wanted a girl!) he says it all became very real to him.  When we asked the technician how often he was wrong with his "prognosis" of boy versus girl, he assures us he is correct by pointing out female genital parts.

8-22-00: Mommy arranged for an ultrasound at the University of Arkansas - Little Rock, where Nana works so that Nana, Nonny, and Pop Pop can see the baby in action.  Pop Pop was so nervous he had to leave the room during the ultrasound.

8-17-00: First check with Dr. Hamilton in second trimester...heartbeat still strong.

8-1 & 2-00: Amy and George see Dave Matthews Band at Shoreline.  These shows sucked for Amy who felt ill both nights.  The second night, Amy ate candy instead of dinner and threw up on the way home, having the leave the show before the encore and her favorite song.

7-28-00: Nucal transluceny test where they check a spot at the nape of the neck of the baby to determine if the area is closing correctly.  Shrimp passes this test with flying colors.

7-20-00: Shrimp at 10 weeks, heartbeat is still strong.  Amy has a run-in with a mouse at the Marston's house.  The mouse bit into her toothpaste and then she told Dr. Hamilton about the incident and he had a blast making fun of the mouse concern throughout the entire visit.

7-15-00: Chris Rucker, Amy and George fly to LA to catch the Sunday night show of the Sanitarium Tour and to see Judd.  Judd says that Amy looks pregnant.  We also get to see XMen - George's favorite movie of the year.

7-14-00: Amy sees the Sanitarium Tour (Metallica, KORN, Kid Rock) at Candlestick

7-6-00: Shrimp at 8 weeks, Dr. Hamilton says that the heartbeat is very strong.

6-26-00 - 7-21-00: Amy moves out of Duncan to Tracy and Nick's and also to Mike and Sue Marston's while Duncan is being painted - the nesting begins!  Amy does practically nothing for the entire time she is at the Marston's except rest and let the baby grow out of the first trimester.

6-23-00: Amy's last day of work

6-19-00: Shrimp at 6 weeks.  George gets a great birthday present when Dr. Hamilton finds the heartbeat.

6-16-00: George and Amy attend Erin's performance of SKIRTS at Dancer's Group Theater.

6-6-00: George, Dan, Nick and Amy see Lou Reed at the Berkeley Community Theater.  The music was so loud that Amy worries about the baby.  She leaves their seats and tries the balcony, the inner lobby and finally lands in the outer lobby.  Nick decides to leave early and takes Amy home with him.  Amy tells Nick that she is pregnant on the way home as they cross the Bay Bridge. He was very excited.

5-30-00: George and Amy entertain Judd Monoson and Maureen Doyle in San Francisco for Memorial Day Weekend.  Maureen and Judd drove up from LA and once they took off to drive back home, Amy decides to get ready for work the next day.  She takes a pregnancy test and realizes that she is pregnant.

We conceived the baby at Will Baggott's college graduation in Colorado Springs, CO.  This is the second pregnancy at very high elevation.  The date of conception is most likely 5-19-00.  We make an appointment to see the doctor at 6 weeks to see if there is a heartbeat this time.  We are very excited, but decide to try to keep this a secret until 3 months, just in case...
